Job summary

A transportation service provider in Alberta is looking for a Train Operator to drive passenger trains and ensure safety compliance. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 credits GCE 'O' Levels and ideally 2 years’ experience in service or retail. You will assist passengers and handle emergencies while adhering to procedures. Shift work, including weekends and public holidays, is required.

Qualifications

  • Less than 200 cm height reach required.
  • Willing to perform shift work, including weekends and Public Holidays.
  • Minimum 2 years' working experience in the service or retail industry.

Responsibilities

Train Operations

  • Drive passenger trains and perform emergency train operator duties.
  • Monitor train performance and resolve defects per guidelines.

Passenger Assistance

  • Respond to inquiries about routes, fares, and transport connections.
  • Help passengers with special needs board and alight safely.

Safety and Compliance

  • Monitor stations and equipment for irregularities and address issues.
  • Ensure passengers follow transit regulations.
  • Handle emergencies (e.g., fire, train defects, passenger incidents) safely and efficiently.

Communication

  • Coordinate with the control center and passengers using communication equipment.

Qualifications and Procedures

  • Maintain necessary certifications and adhere to operational procedures and manuals.

Responsibilities include performing other duties as directed by superiors.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 credits GCE 'O' Levels
  • Able to reach the height of 200 cm with both hands
  • Willing to perform shift work, including weekends and Public Holidays
  • Preferably with minimum 2 years' working experience in the service or retail industry
  • Required to manually operate station and trainborne equipment
  • Possess a pleasant disposition and personality
  • Good interpersonal skills with a passion to work with people
  • Ability to identify colours
