Job summary

RONA is seeking a Customer Service Associate to join our Lumber & Building Materials team in Kingston. You will assist customers in-store and over the phone, manage special orders, and ensure a welcoming, well-organized shopping experience.

You’ll need solid customer-service skills, the ability to lift moderate to heavy products, and a willingness to work daytime, evening and weekend shifts. Join our team and help customers bring their projects to life.

Qualifications

• Effective selling skills are essential to assist customers and close sales.
• Strong communication helps understand customer needs and explain products clearly.
• Good interpersonal skills enable effective interaction with customers and team members.
• Experience in a customer-facing role is preferred.
• The role requires the ability to lift and handle medium to heavy items.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with information and product requirements in-store or by phone.
• Prepare special orders, obtain required information, and coordinate with relevant teams for pricing and delivery dates.
• Maintain store area, keep shelves stocked, and ensure pricing and signage are up to date; monitor inventory levels.
• Stay informed on flyers and promotions to support sales.
• Enhance product knowledge and selling techniques through available training sessions.
• Perform other duties to ensure smooth store operations.

Your role:

• Assist customers with their information/product requirements in the store or over the telephone
• Prepare special orders, obtain the required information and specifications from customer, contact Special Order Purchaser to establish and confirm price and available delivery date
• Maintain entire store, including ensuring area is well stocked and merchandised with current product levels and information signage. Monitor inventory levels, perform inventory counts, and highlight inventory concerns
• Keep current on flyer and promotional events
• Actively strive to increase product knowledge, understand application and/or renovation techniques, and improve selling skills by participating in available training sessions
• Other related tasks to ensure the store runs smoothly

What we're looking for:

• Effective selling skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service are essential
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are needed to assess customer requirements and make recommendations
• Some experience in a customer-focused role is required
• The ability to perform work duties involving stretching, bending, lifting, and carrying medium to heavy products is required
