Job summary

Apotex is seeking a general cleaner to perform cleaning duties inside and outside facilities at the Etobicoke site and other areas as assigned. Tasks include offices, washrooms, GMP areas, cafeteria, laboratories, and controlled spaces, with the operation of cleaning machines and adherence to safety SOPs.

The role requires Grade 12, ability to lift 50 lbs, strong English communication, and reliable time management.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and understand English.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding cleaning tasks.
• Experience in cleaning or janitorial roles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, washrooms, warehouse, GMP areas, cafeteria, laboratories and controlled areas.
• Operate cleaning machines (floor polisher, vacuums, floor scrubbing) and manage waste disposal.
• Restock supplies (soaps, towels, paper products) and maintain equipment like coffee brewers.
• Follow cGMP, SOPs and safety SWP guidelines and work collaboratively with the team.

Responsible for performing general cleaning duties inside and outside of Apotex facilities as assigned. Areas inside the building include offices, washrooms, Locker change rooms, Production area, Warehouse and Laboratories. At the Etobicoke site, the buildings include the Engineering Site Office.

Outside the buildings, in winter, operate the snow blower and ice melter spreader, in conjunction with manually keeping the walkways, exits and entrances clear of ice and snow.

Job Responsibilities

• Offices

Clean offices which include dusting and cleaning furniture, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, washing walls and windows. Remove garbage and recycling from the centralized areas.

• Washrooms

Clean washrooms and change rooms and replenish supplies. (soaps, paper towels, hand cream, etc.)

• Warehouse

Clean warehouse floors, shelves, walls and where applicable

• GMP areas (Production, Packaging)

Clean the Good manufacturing Practices (GMP) areas, which include washing walls, stairs, ceilings and floors. Replenishing supplies.

• Cafeteria

Clean the cafeteria, including the food preparation area, freezers, coolers and storage areas. Remove Garbage and recycling materials as needed. Maintain coffee brewers as required.

• Clean the Laboratory and replenish supplies as required.
• Clean the Controlled Substances/CT vault and walk in refrigerator.
• Dispose of all garbage and recycling following proper procedures.
• Operate various cleaning machines including floor polisher, vacuums and floor scrubbing machines.
• Operate the compactors and laundry machines.
• Utilize approved cleaning agents as trained.
• Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices, (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and established safety standards (SWP).
• Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes
• Demonstrate Behaviours that exhibit our organizational Values: Collaboration, Courage, Perseverance, and Passion.
• Ensure personal adherence with all compliance programs including the Global Business Ethics and Compliance Program, Global Quality policies and procedures, Safety and Environment policies, and HR policies.

The hiring range for this position is $32,646.38 to $45,704.93 per year. The final agreed-upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
