Job summary

The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) is seeking a Custodian to provide cleaning and light maintenance across TRCA sites or facilities. You will perform daily cleaning, garbage collection, washrooms, and event setup/teardown.

The role requires safety awareness, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize customer needs. You will participate in safety meetings, complete records, and help secure buildings at day end.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive cleaning and light maintenance for TRCA sites or facilities.
• Cleans facilities including washrooms, floors, windows, and high traffic areas; handles garbage; dusting; mopping.
• Sets up and tears down meeting rooms for events; responds to cleaning calls as needed.
• Identifies health and safety issues and reports them following safety protocols; participates in tailgate and safety meetings.
• Maintains records such as cleaning inspections and inventory of supplies; closes areas/buildings for security.
• Performs village checks at day end and coordinates with security on evening activities.

How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:The Custodian is responsible for providing a comprehensive delivery of cleaning services and light maintenance for the TRCA sites or facilities.Major Responsibilities:

Supports the clean and safe operations of TRCA site or facility for visitors and the public.Carries out ongoing cleaning of the facility or site, including but not limited to historical buildings, garbage collection, dusting and disinfecting of high traffic areas, moping, cleaning of washrooms, clearing outdoor walkways, and responding to cleaning callsConducts seasonal deep cleaning of fixtures, flooring, windows and wallsas requiredConducts cleaning responsibilities following events or meetings at the site or facility. Possible set up and tear down of meeting roomsIdentifies and reports any health and safety issues, following all related safety protocolsMaintains and completes accurate records as required, including but not limited to inspection and maintenance records for cleaningand regular inventory of cleaning and paper products usedCloses areas/buildings when needed to ensure compliance withapplicable security policies and proceduresParticipates in daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planningConduct a village check at end of day to make sure all buildings are secure.Meets with security at the end of the shift to inform them of any evening activities.
