The University of Ottawa is seeking a part-time Research Assistant (CUPE) in the Common Law Section to support diverse research on social justice and human rights in Canada. You will assist with drafting, citations, and admin tasks, under supervision, at the main campus in Ottawa.

Fluency in English and French is required. Undergraduate or graduate student status qualifies, with compensation at two hourly rates depending on status. The contract runs January 4, 2027 to April 30, 2027.

Requirements and Nature of Work:

Nature of the work: Diverse research on social justice and human rights in Canada; assistance and support with drafting; footnotes; and administrative tasks.

Minimum qualifications: Passionate about social justice and human rights. Resourcefulness. Experience in legal research, at the Equality Law Clinic, or in a social justice setting is a plus.

Bilingual (French and English), both spoken and written. Excellent command of legal writing in both languages, with attention to detail and a thorough knowledge of common law terminology in French.
