Job summary

The Josie Hotel in Canada offers a 10-week Culinary Internship through Crescent Hotels & Resorts, giving students hands-on experience in a luxury hospitality environment. You will learn from seasoned professionals, follow recipe cards, and contribute to a high-standard kitchen.

Position is Full-time/Part-time with AM/PM shifts; you must be enrolled in an accredited program, be at least 18, and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork. Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $21.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Enrolled at an accredited institution for a relevant program (hospitality, culinary, food & beverage).
• Pursuing a degree in Hospitality, Culinary or related field.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow and complete 10-week internship program.
• Prepare food with consistent quality per recipes and standards.
• Start ahead items without over-preparing.
• Date all food containers and rotate per Crescent standards.
• Check pars for shift use and assist in keeping buffet stocked.
• Return unused items to storage with proper dating.
• Assist in controlling food cost and waste per standards.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment as required.
• Be available to work regular shifts and attend as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Role And Responsibilities

• Follow and complete 10-week internship program.
• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
• Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
• Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per Crescent standards.
• Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education & Experience

• Must be currently enrolled at an accredited educational institution
• Must be actively pursuing a degree in Hospitality, Culinary, Food & Beverage, or related field
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Strong written and verbal communication skills strongly preferred
• Prior experience working preferred
• Ability to use Microsoft office products proficiently preferred
• Ability to work in a collaborative manner within a team
