Mission

Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is looking for a Crusher Operator to join our team in Prince Rupert, BC.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Crushing Plant, using button controls and computer controlled systems to produce quality product.
• Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment and electrical components of crusher without compromising worker safety, the environment, or the quality of the product.
• Communicate with workers on and off the crusher site on topics, including the operating efficiency of the plant and technical and mechanical issues.
• Coordinate, communicate and work with Quality Control to ensure quality product.
• Perform daily walk around inspections of the plant site, noting and addressing any issues.
• Demonstrate an ability to plan ahead, adjusting start times and loading times to ensure both timeliness and efficiency in the production process.
• Communicate with supervisor to ensure production level are being met and to determine next day quantities.
• Keep track of production numbers and statistics.
• Complete daily records and plant reports, based on quantities of aggregates produced.
• Assist in ordering parts and supplies as required.
• Perform and oversee maintenance of Crusher.
• Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Certifications

• High-School Diploma or G.E.D Preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Crushing Plant Operator required
• Minimum 2 years of experience doing maintenance and repair of crushing equipment required
• Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean current drivers abstract

Technical Skills

• Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures.
• Knowledge and understanding of mechanical components and moving parts.
• Understand how to safely and appropriately operate skid steers and loaders.

Working Conditions

• Travel as required.
• Overtime as required.
• Use of personal protection equipment is required.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
• Must comply with all company policies.
• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Compensation Data

This is a unionized position with an anticipated wage range of $30.00-$45.00/hour. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
