Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.

Your Role:

We are seeking a dynamic Field Producer with sharp news judgment, strong editorial instincts and a drive to reinvent how news stories are told.

You will play a hands-on role in daily newsgathering and production, working alongside reporters on complex investigative pieces, breaking news and special projects that demand high production values. You are highly adaptable, thrive under tight deadlines and excel as a team player.

This position has a strong cross-platform focus. You will help modernize our approach to newsgathering and production, ensuring stories are tailored from the ground up to engage distinct digital, social and broadcast audiences.

You will pitch and experiment with innovative visual, narrative and production techniques, collaborating closely with journalists and teams across the News department to deliver agile, cross-platform storytelling.

What You Do:

As Field Producer, you will oversee the creative development, planning and execution of in-depth reports and news content across all Radio-Canada platforms.

You will have wide latitude to exercise initiative, independent judgment and creativity. You will work closely with editorial and technical teams and, when required, co-ordinate all contributors involved in production.

You will ensure that all content adheres to CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices as well as corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conceive and produce news reports and features, guiding editorial teams on the structure, formatting and visual treatment of their stories.
  • Determine the visual and narrative approach, pacing, structure and format best suited to each story, platform and target audience.
  • Embed a cross-platform mindset from the newsgathering stage onward, developing innovative formats and treatments tailored for digital and linear platforms.
  • Direct or, when required, perform video editing and sound mixing.
  • Co-ordinate the production crews, contributors and technical resources required to deliver content.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

What You Bring:
Qualifications:
  • University degree or college diploma in a relevant field.
  • Five (5) years’ relevant media experience, including at least three (3) years directly related to content production with extensive experience field-producing news reports.
  • Proven track record of producing video content tailored for both digital and broadcast platforms.
Skills:
  • Sound editorial judgment, deep knowledge of current affairs and a comprehensive understanding of broadcast journalism and reporting standards.
  • Strong grasp of the editorial and technical demands of news production.
  • Strong content production skills.
  • Deep understanding of digital storytelling conventions, formats and audience consumption habits, with the ability to conceptualize content through a cross-platform lens.
  • Creative drive, intellectual curiosity and an appetite for experimenting with new visual and narrative formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure, react quickly to breaking news and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French.
  • High degree of initiative, strong collaborative skills and sound problem‑solving abilities.
  • Hands‑on experience with camera operation and video editing software is an asset.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
