Job summary

Syngenta Canada is seeking a Crop Protection Development Assistant Intern in Calgary, AB to join our R&D team.

This 4-month internship (May 2027 – August 2027) provides hands-on experience with field trials on crops like wheat, barley, canola, and pulses in Western Canada, under the Emerging Talent Program. You will gain practical skills in data collection, agronomic training, and project teamwork.

Qualifications

• Pursuing post-secondary education; preference for Agriculture field
• Class 5 license minimum
• Comfortable wearing a respirator and working mainly outdoors
• Ability to repetitively lift 20 lbs. and work outdoors for long periods

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on experience with crop production requirements in key crops.
• Receive agronomic training for crop staging and pest identification.
• Operate small research equipment safely and follow written protocols.
• Contribute to data requirements and methodologies used in product development.
• Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and time management skills.
• Operate small agricultural farm equipment such as tractors.
• Initiate trials and field testing of experimental products.
• Collect data and maintain site maintenance and activity records.
