Crew Lead
A ServiceMaster Crew Lead will be required to lead and work job sites affected by flooding, fires, mold, and sewer backup. Employees perform duties in homes, businesses, and government buildings impacted by emergency situations. Out-of-town work may be required for large losses and catastrophic events. Must be available for on‑call shifts as scheduled.
Job Duties
- Leads and works with technicians on the emergency response team to attend losses such as flooding, sewer backup, fire, and wind.
- Confirms scope of work with Project Manager and/or Mitigation Manager.
- Has the homeowner(s) or approved authority sign off on the work authorization.
- Manages all questions on site from homeowners/business owners in a professional, dignified, knowledgeable and calming manner.
- Responsible for safety at each work site, conducts and documents safety meetings with compliance to both the Occupational Health and Safety Codes and company policies, including performing a hazard assessment with crew before beginning work on site; also ensures compliance for all OH&S is followed by all personnel including sub‑trades on site.
- Photographs and video‑graphs the work site before, during and after emergency work – especially pre‑existing damage.
- Ensures water readings (daily psychometric readings) are documented at every loss.
- Submits accurate time sheets to payroll after reviewing all paperwork to ensure precision.
- Completes all necessary forms: Work Authorization, Daily Psychometric Readings, Equipment Activity Reports, Job Hazard Assessment, at the completion of each emergency.
- Provides the Mitigation Manager or Project Manager with up‑to‑date reports on the status of the job at the end of each work day, and remains in continual contact to inform of any changes and concerns.
- Collects all applicable samples for the Project Manager.
- All Crew Leads should have asbestos awareness and are required to collect applicable asbestos samples when in question and notify the Project Manager immediately.
- Conducts vehicle maintenance inspections; cleans and maintains vehicles both inside and out.
- Understands and implements standard protocols for water remediation, mold, asbestos, and contents handling depending on the type of loss.
- Valid G driver’s license required.

- Mixes and applies chemicals safely in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and WHMIS.
- Teaches good housekeeping techniques to ensure non‑cluttered, safe and organized worksites.
- Has a complete set of tools that is inventoried on a regular basis, basic carpentry skills and working knowledge of tools.
- Wears appropriate PPE and company attire/uniform at all times.
- Minimum of 1 year of direct working experience in disaster restoration linked to fire/water loss or related.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Proficient working and applied knowledge of demolition and tear‑outs of affected areas in both residential and commercial buildings of various sizes, as well as construction knowledge and terminology.
- Ability to remain calm in times of stress and chaotic situations.
- Knowledge and working ability to properly use equipment such as dehumidifiers, truck mounts, air scrubbers, etc.
Educational Requirements
An IICRC Certification is required.
