Job summary

A regional health organization in Grandmother's Bay is seeking a Community Support Worker to assist health teams and promote Woodland Cree culture. The role includes supporting the elderly, facilitating health programming, and engaging community members in traditional practices. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and organizational skills as well as knowledge of First Nations traditions. A valid Class 5 Driver’s license is required for this position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 10, or a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience with First Nations culture and traditions is a must.
  • Ability to speak and understand Cree required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills a definite asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Assist health staff in delivering health care services.
  • Help the elderly and disabled live independently at home.
  • Provide home visiting support and awareness.
  • Act as an interpreter between English and Cree speaking clients.
  • Assist in planning and organizing community events.
  • Engage families and community members in basic life skills.
