Job summary

A healthcare institution is seeking a Credentialing Clerk to support departmental activities. The successful candidate will manage electronic files, perform data entry, ensure primary source verifications, and assist with credentialing files and inquiries. Ideal candidates should have a high school diploma and 1-2 years of relevant clerical experience, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a basic understanding of word processing software. The position offers a competitive salary range.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of clerical experience, preferably in a hospital or health care setting.
  • Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and maintains electronic files for individuals applying for appointment or reappointment.
  • Performs data entry of applicant’s credentialing information into computerized records.
  • Conducts primary source verifications for applicants applying for appointment and/or re-appointment.
  • Contacts institutions to obtain outstanding documentation and verify information.
  • Processes routine responses to inquiry letters concerning appointment status.
  • Prepares packets of information on applicants for Credentials Committee.
  • Performs general clerical functions for the department.
  • Assists in the preparation of credentialing files for managed care and regulatory surveys.
  • Provides clerical support for special projects involving credentialing activities.
