The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is recruiting for three (3) Creative Leads to produce high-quality visual assets that support communications campaigns, events, and Government-wide initiatives. Reporting to the Creative Supervisor, this position plays a key role in building and maintaining the visual identity of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. Creative Leads collaborate with a variety of individuals to develop new design concepts, graphics, and layouts in both print and digital media, bringing ideas to life in a clear, consistent, and visually engaging way. Successful candidates must be creative, detail‑oriented, have expert knowledge of current design software, and be skilled with every step of the design process, from concept to the final deliverable. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and able to balance multiple design projects at once.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the creation of print and digital materials such as reports, posters, presentations, social graphics, signage, and campaign collateral.
  • Develop concepts, layouts, and designs that reflect the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s branding and storytelling.
  • Maintain visual standards and templates for consistent use across departments.
  • Prepare files for print production and digital distribution.
  • Support major initiatives and events with creative planning and asset development.
  • Collaborate with writers, videographers, and digital team members to ensure aligned messaging.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute strong visual ideas.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Liaise with vendors (printers, promotional suppliers, newspapers, etc.) to establish budgets and production schedules.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders while promoting realistic timelines and expectations.
  • Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients/customers, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.
Skills and Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Firefly).
  • Strong understanding of layout, typography, colour theory, and design principles.
  • Ability to interpret complex concepts and present them visually.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, including professional email etiquette.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and effectively manage and prioritize requests and deadlines.
  • Ability to assess options and implications, engage different perspectives, and create strategic solutions for communications challenges.
  • Flexible and adaptable to work in a diverse and fast‑paced environment.
  • Competency to work with and convey messages to different audiences.
  • Ability to work in an open work environment with a very collaborative team.
  • Political sensitivity and ability to deal with confidential information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of building collaborative partnerships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of professional design experience.
  • Experience designing for both print and digital platforms.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to work in office in Edmonton, Alberta.
  • Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 4:30, as well as occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel between office locations and throughout Alberta, on occasion.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Submission of a portfolio demonstrating a range of design work.
