Job summary

Creative Inc. is seeking a Creative Director for a contract role lasting 3–6 months in Vancouver. The role requires a passionate designer with at least 6 years of experience, including 2 years in a leadership position.

You will own the creative direction for projects, mentor design team members, and ensure quality standards are met. This role is hybrid—4 days in the office and 1 day remote. Compensation is competitive at $110,000 – $150,000 CAD annually.

The opportunity

We're looking for a Creative Director to join us for 3–6 months to cover a planned leave.

This is a role for someone passionate about design that loves leading creative as much as they love being in it. You'll run the room when a client needs a clear vision. You'll open Figma when the team needs to see what's possible. You'll bring a perspective that's distinctly yours, and we’ll be stoked to see you take the reins and make your mark.

The role

Creative Direction

• Own the creative direction across all active projects, from initial concept through to final delivery
• Develop and present concepts to clients and the internal team
• Make clear, confident creative decisions and communicate the rationale
• Ensure all work reflects the client's brief, their brand standards, and ONBOX's quality bar

Hands-on Design

• Build concept decks, moodboards, and direction presentations personally
• Design in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite - set the visual standard by example
• Review and art direct work in progress with specific, actionable feedback
• Elevate the design team's output by working alongside them - show, don't just tell
• Mentor designers through the work, not just around it
• Create space for ideas while holding the standard high
• Partner with strategy on insights-driven creative solutions
• Work with project managers to keep quality and timelines aligned
• Present work to clients and articulate the creative vision with confidence

What you’ll bring

• 6+ years of design experience, with at least 2 years as a Creative Director or senior Art Director
• A portfolio full of work you made - not just work you approved
• Strong brand identity chops; packaging and digital experience a bonus
• Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
• Open to using AI tooling and drive adoption where applicable
• The ability to sell a concept to a client and explain a decision to a junior designer in the same afternoon

Location: Vancouver, BC - 4 days in office, 1 day remote

Type: Contract, 3-6 months

Equipment: Work laptop provided

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Compensation: $110,000 – $150,000 CAD annualized, depending on experience
