Court Administrative Assistant, Court of King's Bench-ADM025951Employment Type : SGEU Term 9 months or more

Ministry: 003 Justice Salary Range : $26.002-$32.589 HourlyGrade : SGEU.06.

The Ministry of Justice and Attorney General provides a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to government.

The Courts and Community Justice Division is seeking a skilled, ethical, confident individual to work at the Saskatoon Court of King’s Bench to provide comprehensive clerical support.

Responsibilities
  • Processing legal documents within King’s Bench database and / or other databases, reconciling month-end financial reports, drafting / typing letters and court-related documents such as civil, criminal, adoption, estate and divorce actions and compiling jury lists;
  • Answering telephone, in person or by email, inquiries from members of the public, lawyers, or stakeholders;
  • Performing complex clerical and receptionist duties, including some financial and statistical matters for the Sheriff / Local Registrar;
  • Entering and retrieving data using various software programs;
  • Maintaining files and records, and retrieving and searching files for information;
  • Receiving, sorting and distributing mail;
  • Operating and maintaining office equipment such as photocopiers and facsimiles;
  • Providing reception services and general program information;
  • Will be required to climb ladders to retrieve files and carry heavy boxes up to 20 kg that contain files and documents;
  • May be required to travel to and provide support to other court locations.

  • Knowledge of office administrative practices and procedures, legal terminology, applicable computer hardware and software applications and filing systems.
  • Effective communication and positive interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and positive individual who enjoys a fast-paced, challenging environment with diverse job expectations.
  • Input, update, retrieve, format and transmit information using computer software and accurately type and edit correspondence and other legal documents.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Use tact and diplomacy when serving clients and colleagues.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this job are obtained through a post-secondary education program such as an office education diploma / court services administrator certification, supplemented with legal courses and relevant work experience or a combination of education and work experience.
