Job Description

May include :

  • Execute all aspects of the sales function including order processing, purchase orders, payment processing, quotes, and delivery dates - ensure accuracy of information being entered to guarantee correct item(s) are ordered.
  • Support branch sales, including new business development, by actively communicating with dealers about new product launches, services, supplies, prices, and discounts via outbound calls and in-house discussions. Conduct outbound calls to existing and lost customer accounts.
  • Maintain sales programs within the assigned territory by keeping customers informed about available services, supplies, prices, and new products.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including product/order information, sales, warranties, and returns.
  • Recommend alternative products based on cost, availability, or specifications as needed.
  • Obtain and monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed. Coordinate with manufacturing, sales, distribution, and vendors regarding shipments.
  • Generate new and repeat sales by providing product and technical information promptly.
  • Educate customers about product terminology, features, and benefits to improve sales and satisfaction.
  • Provide accurate information regarding stock availability. Conduct cycle counts as required and replenish showroom stock as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Branch Manager to resolve problems and ensure customer satisfaction, adhering to company policies. Coordinate problem resolution with relevant departments.
  • Process cash drawer daily, perform end-of-shift cash counts, prepare deposit slips, and secure funds.
  • Maintain sales records and prepare activity reports.
  • Periodically contact customers to assess satisfaction with products and services.
  • Monitor competitive activity and industry trends within the territory.
  • Expand HVAC product knowledge and stay current with industry trends.
  • Work positively with all management levels and peers to ensure effective teamwork and high service standards.
  • Follow work instructions, operating procedures, and company policies.
  • Assist in warehouse tasks as needed, including inventory counts and product movement, and operate a forklift safely.
  • Perform additional projects as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills :

  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment/products is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and database applications.
  • High-quality customer service and relationship management skills via walk-ins, phone, and email.
  • Positive, professional attitude with the ability to handle difficult customers and diffuse negative situations.
  • Developing rapport and effective listening skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, including explaining technical information accurately.

Experience :

  • 1-3 years of sales experience.

Education :

  • High School diploma or GED; some college preferred. HVAC certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment :

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without accommodations. Occasional travel to customer sites, training, or meetings (estimated 20%).
