Qualifications

As a Counsellor II, you’ll provide short‑ and longer‑term counselling in Thunder Bay through programs such as our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Total Mental Health (TMH), supporting individuals and families in building resilience and enhancing their overall well‑being.

What You’ll Do

As part of our Healthcare Excellence team, you’ll help clients navigate life’s challenges and strengthen their emotional well‑being through compassionate, evidence‑based, and personalized counselling.

  • Deliver solution‑focused, goal‑oriented counselling, with opportunities for ongoing client engagement through programs like TMH and Benefits Extension, in person at our Arthur Street office.
  • Support a diverse client population across a range of presenting issues such as stress, anxiety, relationships, workplace concerns, grief, and adjustment challenges.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation using TELUS Health’s digital tools and templates.
  • Participate in team consultations, case discussions, and peer groups to enhance clinical practice and ensure high‑quality care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across programs to ensure clients receive the right level and continuity of care.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current registration in good standing with one of the following:
    • OCSWSSW (Registered Social Worker – RSW)
    • CRPO (Registered Psychotherapist – RP)
  • 5+ years of post‑graduate clinical experience in counselling, psychotherapy, or mental health care.
  • Proficiency in solution‑focused, brief, and longer‑term therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience working with substance use concerns or Indigenous populations considered an asset.
  • Empathetic, adaptable, and able to build trust quickly with diverse clients.
  • Organized, self‑directed, and comfortable managing caseloads and documentation using digital tools.
  • Committed to ethical, evidence‑informed practice and ongoing professional growth.
