Overview

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs team at Marsh McLennan. This role is based in Toronto. It is a hybrid role, requiring at least three days a week in the office.

Responsibilities

As a Counsel or Senior Legal Specialist, you will provide strategic and tactical legal guidance to Marsh McLennan's Marsh and Mercer US business, focusing on commercial contracting and related matters. Collaborating closely with the business and other members of the Legal Team, your responsibilities will include reviewing and negotiating client engagement letters, client service agreements, consulting agreements, and statements of work (SOW). You will also assess Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and prepare responses that align with Company contractual requirements, negotiate data privacy and security agreements, and effectively communicate company and legal department policies and approval processes for contract modifications to internal colleagues.

  • Draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements with clients from all industry sectors
  • Advise on legal, regulatory, and business risks related to the Marsh & Mercer US business
  • Contribute to and reinforce the Marsh McLennan Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs ("LCPA") Department's Strategic Plan and initiatives that impact the LCPA organization
  • Collaborate effectively with business, operations and legal and compliance colleagues
  • Promote an ethical culture where employees are encouraged to voice their concerns and opinions
  • Above all, exercise sound judgment
What you need to have
  • A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in Canada or the US at a law firm or in-house at a reputable company, with a focus on commercial contracting

Hybrid work
