Counsel

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance, & Public Affairs team at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in Toronto and is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Counsel, you will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical advice to Marsh McLennan's Marsh McLennan Agency US/Canadian businesses, advising on commercial contracting and associated matters. You will work closely with the business and other members of the Legal Team to review and negotiate various agreements, including client service agreements, consulting agreements, statements of work, insurance carrier appointment contracts, and Non-Disclosure Agreements.

Additionally, you will review Requests for Proposals and prepare responses in compliance with Company contractual requirements while communicating company and legal department policies and approval processes for contract changes to in-house clients.

The role will report to Marsh & McLennan Agency's Chief Commercial Counsel.

What you need to have:
  • Be a Member of the Bar of a Canadian province or US state
  • Law degree from an accredited law school, plus at least 2+ years' experience at a law firm or in-house at a reputable company, with a focus on commercial contracting

Office-based teams will identify at least one "anchor day" per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $119,200 to $169,200.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
