Job summary

Swamp Donkey Musical Theatre Society is looking for a Costume Designer/Lead Seamstress & Wardrober for our production of The Wizard of Oz which runs from May 22 to 24, 2020.

Honorarium: $300. Show Dates: May 22 to 24, 2020. Duties include collaborating with Director, creating costume plot, taking measurements, buying/renting costumes, sewing, supervising staff, attending rehearsals, and coordinating dressers and costume repairs within the budget.

Qualifications

• Strong visual sense for designing costumes.
• Ability to draw and present design concepts.
• Knowledge of historical and contemporary clothing styles.
• Proficient sewing skills and fabric work.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director on establishing a costume design.
• Collaborate with the Director, Set Designer, and Lighting Designer on colour palette.
• Create a costume plot and concept presentations.
• Take measurements of all cast members.
• Buy, rent, or borrow costumes and accessories within the production budget.
• Sew costumes as required and supervise others.
• Recruit and coordinate additional seamstresses/seamsters.
• Attend production meetings and rehearsals as required.
• Coordinate costume parade and dress rehearsals with the team.
• Arrange for cleaning and returns of rented costumes.
