Job description

Every day, something extraordinary happens in the skies above Nunavik. At Air Inuit, we’re not just flying planes, we’re connecting communities, delivering essentials, and making a meaningful impact. We’re looking for dedicated individuals ready to take their careers to new heights. If you're driven by purpose and motivated by challenge, your journey starts here.

ABOUT US

Since 1978, Air Inuit is more than just an airline, it is a lifeline. Born from the vision and resilience of the Inuit of Nunavik, and proudly owned through the Makivvik Corporation, Air Inuit has connected communities across the vast, breathtaking expanse of Northern Quebec and beyond. Air Inuit’s aircraft have sailed through some of the world’s most challenging skies, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

From the versatile Twin Otter to the powerful Boeing 737-800NG, a fleet of over 35 aircraft carries not just passengers and cargo, but stories, hopes, and essential services to the people of the Nunavik. Behind every flight is a team of over 1,300 dedicated professionals and each one committed to a shared mission: to operate with safety, reliability, and heart. Air Inuit is more than transportation, it’s a symbol of self-determination, a bridge between tradition and progress, and a testament to what’s possible when a community takes flight together.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Finance team, the Cost and Route Profitability Analyst is responsible for developing a detailed understanding of operating costs and network profitability. The incumbent transforms financial and operational data into reliable analyses to assess the performance of routes, aircraft types, and the Passenger, Cargo, and Charter business segments, and provides recommendations to support decision-making.

Primary mandate: establish a clear view of the full cost and financial contribution of each route and aircraft type.

THE ROLE IN DEPTH
  • Develop, maintain, and improve costing models by route, aircraft type, business segment, and business unit.
  • Analyze the profitability of Passenger, Cargo, and Charter operations by comparing revenue, direct costs, variable costs, attributable fixed costs, and contribution margins.
  • Assess operating costs associated with different aircraft types, including fuel, crew, maintenance, airport charges, ground handling, and other relevant costs.
  • Prepare profitability analyses by route, frequency, period, flight type, customer, or contract, based on organizational needs.
  • Analyze variances between actual results, budgets, forecasts, and operational assumptions, and explain the main drivers of those variances.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Network Planning, Sales, Cargo, Charter, Maintenance, and Systems teams to validate the data and assumptions used.
  • Prepare financial scenarios to support decisions related to launching, maintaining, modifying, or optimizing routes and frequencies.
  • Support pricing, capacity, fleet utilization, and aircraft assignment analysis by assessing their financial impacts.
  • Develop dashboards and performance indicators to monitor trends in unit costs, margins, and network profitability.
  • Present results, findings, and recommendations clearly to managers and stakeholders, including non-financial audiences.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses related to costs, contracts, routes, aircraft, and strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to report automation, data-source improvements, and the evolution of management accounting processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, traceability, and integrity of the financial and operational data used in analyses.
  • Support the team and department according to operational needs.
WHAT SETS YOU APART
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in management accounting, cost analysis, FP&A, or financial analysis; experience in aviation, transportation, or a complex operational environment is a significant asset.
  • Strong understanding of costing, margins, cost allocation, budgeting, and profitability analysis principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, SQL, an ERP system, or data visualization and analysis tools are considered an asset.
  • Ability to work with large volumes of data from multiple systems and ensure accurate reconciliation and reliability.
  • Excellent analytical skills, thoroughness, professional judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain complex analyses in a simple, structured, and decision-oriented manner.
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize, collaborative, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
  • Professional proficiency in both French and English.
  • CPA designation or training in management accounting is considered an asset.
  • COMPENSATION
  • Salary and benefits are determined according to company policy.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Location: Air Inuit Head Office in Ville Saint-Laurent, a central hub where key decisions and collaboration happen.
