Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Cost Analyst in Canada to support financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting for construction projects. You will review invoices, allocate accruals, and help forecast costs with project leadership across equipment, materials, and productivity trends.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 2+ years in construction, with strong communication skills and knowledge of subcontractor agreements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required.
  • 2+ years' experience in the construction industry required.
  • Growing knowledge of subcontractor agreements preferred.
  • Able to understand the payment application and its connection with the job cost report and key indicators.
  • Growing knowledge of project change order procedures on a construction project.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles including construction accounting preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand contract documents.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and allocates equipment accruals and apply cost codes to incoming vendor invoices for project leadership review.
  • Prepares budget revisions and journal entries for Business Manager review.
  • Participates in the creation of subcontractor payments and change orders.
  • Tracks unsecured revenue and/or project contingencies.
  • Works with project leadership to prepare resourcing projections, equipment and material projections, and productivity trend reporting and analysis on key operations to accurately forecast costs and expected financial outcomes.
  • Acts as liaison between project leadership and division finance department.
  • Assists with project close out activities to validate the final revenue prior to final bill submittal.
  • Audits Force Account Billings against Company tracking programs and Owner billings.
