Job summary

123Dentist is seeking a Corporate Legal Counsel to join its in-house team in Toronto on a hybrid schedule. You will serve as a true generalist, handling commercial agreements, real estate, governance, employment, and regulatory matters across a fast-growing dental network.

You'll collaborate with Operations, HR, Marketing, Procurement, and Corporate Development to provide practical, business-minded legal guidance that keeps initiatives moving forward while managing risk and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• JD or LLB and a Bachelor's degree.
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (or a provincial equivalent).
• 1–3 years of corporate/commercial law experience from a well-regarded law firm or in-house legal department.
• French language ability is a significant asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal guidance across commercial, real estate, M&A, employment, governance, and regulatory matters for internal teams.
• Handle day-to-day corporate legal work including commercial agreements, leases, governance matters, and dispute management.
• Partner with external counsel as needed and distill complex legal advice into actionable guidance for business stakeholders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align legal strategy with business objectives and foster a pragmatic, business-enabling legal culture.
• Help shape the evolution of the legal department as the organization grows.

As Corporate Legal Counsel, you’ll have the rare opportunity to become a true generalist, working across commercial, real estate, M&A, employment, corporate governance, intellectual property, risk management, and regulatory matters, all within a single fast-moving organization.

You’ll work closely with our Operations, HR, Marketing, Procurement, and Corporate Development teams, providing practical, business-enabling legal advice that keeps things moving. Whether you’re drafting a commercial agreement, negotiating a lease, or helping navigate a complex cross-functional issue, you’ll be a trusted partner to the business, not just an order-taker.

What You’ll Do

• Provide strategic legal guidance across a wide range of matters to internal teams including Operations, Corporate Development, HR, Marketing, and Finance
• Handle day-to-day corporate legal work spanning commercial agreements, employment (contract drafting and disputes), real estate (leases, renewals, extensions), corporate secretarial and governance, and dispute and litigation management
• Partner with external counsel as needed and distill complex legal advice into clear, actionable guidance for business stakeholders
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align legal strategy with business objectives and foster a pragmatic, business-enabling legal culture
• Help shape the evolution of the legal department as the organization continues to grow

What You Bring

• JD or LLB and a Bachelor’s degree
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (or a provincial equivalent)
• 1–3 years of corporate/commercial law experience from a well-regarded law firm or in-house legal department
• A business-oriented mindset; you understand commercial context and know how to assess legal risk pragmatically
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, with outstanding attention to detail
• High degree of autonomy and sound judgment; you don’t need to be told twice
• A collaborative, team-first approach to problem-solving
• A natural bias to action and the ability to think sharply under pressure
• Ability to practice law in French is a significant asset
