You as a Corporate Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager will:
Program Development & Implementation
- Assist in the design, rollout, and maintenance of company-wide HSE management systems, policies and standards.
- Support the Director, Corporate Health, Safety & Environment in developing strategic initiatives to strengthen HSE culture and performance across all business units.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and performance management for corporate HSE staff.
- Foster collaboration and communication between the corporate HSE department and field operations teams.
Date Management, Reporting & Analysis
- Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of HSE performance metrics, trends, and leading indicators.
- Support preparation of quarterly and annual HSE performance reports for executive review, including the SVP, HSE.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
Compliance & Liaison
- Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices; advise the Director, Corporate Health, Safety & Environment and operational leaders on implications and required updates.
- Support HSE prequalification process for both EllisDon and subcontractors.
Training & Communication
- Promote company-wide engagement in HSE initiatives and awareness programs.
- Assist in the oversight of the development and implementation of safety training programs
- Provide expert support on incident investigations, root cause analysis, and lessons learned dissemination.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate and support our Environmental team with the development and roll‑out of practices, procedures and systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams and business lines on best practices and innovative ideas that continually drive improvements.
Is this the right role for you?
- You have 8‑10+ years of progressive HSE experience, preferably within large‑scale construction, heavy civil or industrial industries.
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or other relevant formal education.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent designation preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in corporate or regional HSE leadership roles and experience managing teams.
- Experience with COR Audits and/or ISO 45001 systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of training and development practices.
- Proven ability to develop and implement HSE programs across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
- Analytical and detail‑oriented, with excellent problem‑solving and organizational abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive safety culture.
- Proficiency is MS Office Suite and HSE Management software systems.
