Job summary

VCNA is seeking a Corporate Environmental Specialist to support the Director, Cement Environment and plant operations in achieving regulatory compliance. WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Corporate Environmental Specialist supports the Director, Cement Environment and cement plants to ensure compliance with environmental regulations at federal, state/provincial, and municipal levels. Responsibilities include preparing environmental reports, coordinating the monitoring and testing of wastewater discharges, air emissions, and waste streams, and ensuring compliance with agencies such as the EPA, Environment Canada, and other regulatory bodies. The role also supports ISO 14001 certification and promotes environmental awareness through training programs.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?


  • Support plants in developing and evaluating action plans to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance.

  • Implement and monitor environmental programs to mitigate risk of fines and penalties.

  • Audit and report environmental performance to internal and external stakeholders. Maintain all environmental records for the plant.

  • Ensure legal compliance and improve environmental performance through the implementation of specific projects.

  • Provide environmental training at all organizational levels, ensuring awareness and responsibility for environmental issues.

  • Ensure timely submission of environmental reports to meet legal requirements.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?


  • University/College Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum five years of experience in a large manufacturing industry.

  • Expertise in environmental legislation and technologies.

  • Understanding of monitoring requirements for air emissions, water quality, and waste management.

  • Familiarity with cement manufacturing processes that affect environmental performance.

  • Knowledge of chemical and instrumentation related to hydrogeology, air quality, and waste management.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Salary Range: $82,000 - $102,000
