Job summary

A leading automotive firm in Windsor is looking for an EDI Analyst to coordinate and implement EDI developments. Responsibilities include analyzing EDI specifications, monitoring transactions, and providing technical support. Candidates should have an Associate Degree in Information Systems, 5-7 years of relevant experience, and strong communication skills. This role may require on-call support for EDI communications, ensuring quality and maintenance of the EDI process.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Electronic Data Interchange Specialist.
  • Analyze and develop specifications for EDI application interfaces and maps.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound EDI transactions and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Perform Data Mapping setups and test new transactions.
  • Support applicable software on a 24/7 basis when required.
  • Coordinate Abstract Syntax Notation transmissions through third parties if communication problems.
  • Administer customer portal tasks such as user setups and periodic audits.

Summary

The Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Analyst's main objective is to coordinate and implement all EDI-related developments for their organization. They are responsible for analyzing specifications used for enhancements and extensions in EDI applications, interfaces, and mappings. They coordinate all EDI testing, implementations, and upgrades. Additionally, the EDI specialist serves as the primary link between the business and any data-trading partners; they work with all trading partners to determine the type of data they would like to trade and develop guidelines and specifications for data exchange. In addition the EDI Analyst could be responsible for serving as the primary customer portal administrator for the company.

Job Duties
  • Serve as the primary Electronic Data Interchange Specialist.
  • Analyzes and develops specifications for enhancements and extensions with EDI application interfaces and maps.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound EDI transactions. Troubleshoot and help assure quality and maintenance of the EDI Process.
  • Perform Data Mapping set ups and test new transactions.
  • Support applicable software on a 24 / 7 basis when required.
  • Responsibilities will require being "on call", via cell phone or home phone, and may require evening and weekend work in response to the needs of the systems being supported.
  • Troubleshoot problems with EDI communications when applicable.
  • Coordinate Abstract Syntax Notation transmissions through 3rd party if communication problems.
  • Update work instructions when required and distribute to appropriate parties.
  • Change passwords for EDI communications where applicable.
  • Create and maintain Query reports when applicable.
  • Monitor for specific EDI documents on TLW and direct to appropriate printer
  • Special Projects when required.
  • Perform customer portal administration tasks as mandated. (Set up new users, reset passwords, complete user grants, perform periodic user's audits, maintain new site codes and support the launch of new customer applications.)
  • Daily Operations would also include other duties assigned by the Manager.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Information Systems or equivalent.
  • Technical knowledge : System (AS400), Query 400, ANSI X12 and EDIFACT EDI standards, Trusted Link (Tli, TLW), Communication Protocols (ftp, https). MS Office : Word and Excel.
  • Relevant 5-7 years' work experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to provide detail technical support for new and existing customers and suppliers.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Strong problem resolution and decision making skills.
  • Strong communication skills when dealing with customers, vendors and users.
