The Opportunity
We are seeking a Corporate Controller to safeguard financial integrity, lead accounting governance, and help build a finance function capable of supporting growth, external scrutiny, and increasingly complex decision‑making.
This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role suited to someone who combines deep technical accounting expertise with the judgment to operate effectively in a development‑stage, technology‑driven business.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Corporate Controller is accountable for the accuracy, compliance, and reliability of AdvEn’s financial information.
The role exists to ensure that leadership has decision‑ready financial insight, supported by strong controls, disciplined reporting, and IFRS‑compliant accounting practices required for the Company as it goes public.
The Controller will guide the company through its growth phase by strengthening systems, implementing scalable processes, including a new ERP, and maintaining rigorous financial governance as complexity increases.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Lead the production of timely, accurate, and complete consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
- Own the financial close process, driving efficiency, accuracy, and predictability.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting, including annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Develop and report on key financial and operational KPIs, including budget‑to‑actual variance analysis and identification of material issues.
- Provide decision‑grade financial analysis to support R &D prioritization, capital deployment, and commercialization trade‑offs.
- Oversee treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and foreign currency exposure.
Accounting Operations and Internal Controls
- Design, document, and enforce a robust system of internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Manage full‑cycle accounting operations, including General Ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and complex reconciliations.
- Act as the central point of oversight for subsidiary accounting operations, ensuring adherence to corporate standards.
- Lead the selection and implementation of a new ERP system to improve scalability, efficiency, and data integrity.
Compliance, Audit and Technical Accounting
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and manage annual audit execution.
- Maintain expert‑level knowledge of IFRS, complex transaction accounting, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all tax, statutory, and government reporting obligations.
Leadership and Team Development
- Recruit, coach, and lead accounting personnel to build a high‑performing finance team.
- Set clear goals and expectations aligned to the company’s growth trajectory.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- CPA designation.
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in senior accounting roles.
- Deep, current working knowledge of IFRS.
- Experience operating in growth‑stage, technology‑driven, or complex organizations.
Essential Capabilities
- Technical mastery of consolidation, complex transactions, and IFRS reporting.
- Proven ability to design and enforce strong controls and scalable processes.
- Leadership capability to build and manage an effective accounting team.
- Clear communicator who can translate financial complexity for non‑financial leaders.
- Sound judgment, discipline, and comfort operating in evolving environments.
- Experience supporting commercialization, investment readiness, or scale‑up is a strong asset.

- Leadership confidence in the accuracy and usefulness of financial information.
- Clean audits with minimal findings.
- Predictable, efficient close and reporting cycles.
- Clear visibility into cost drivers across development, pilot, and early production.
- Finance readiness to support funding, partnerships, and scale‑up decisions.
Location and Work Model
- This role is primarily office‑based, with flexibility as appropriate.
- AdvEn’s current production operations are located in Nisku, Alberta, and periodic on‑site presence may be required.
- Additional effort during close, audit, and reporting cycles should be expected.
