Who We Are Looking For We are seeking a detail‑oriented and reliable Corporate Controller to join our expanding accounting operations team. This leadership role, reporting directly to the Founders, is critical in ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining organized records, and supporting efficient workflows that empower our business to scale with confidence. The ideal candidate will not only bring strong accounting and financial expertise but also a proactive mindset, helping us refine processes, streamline reporting, and provide insights that drive smarter decision‑making. As Clever grows, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic environment where your work directly supports both day‑to‑day financial health and long‑term strategic success of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
  • Own all end‑to‑end reporting functions including monthly 3‑statement standard reports, report analysis and insights, management reports based on departments and projects and any ad hoc KPI reporting.
  • Manage and own all accounts receivable functions including invoicing, business‑to‑business collections, customer management and account reconciliations.
  • Manage and own all accounts payable functions including invoice booking, coding, managing vendor inquiries, cheque runs/EFTs and reconciliations.
  • Manage and own payroll processing for 90 hourly and salaried employees across Canada and the United States using QuickBooks Online.
  • Utilize 20‑30% of time to focus on organization strategy, improve operational inefficiencies by designing and implementing new processes and systems.
  • Manage and grow accounting team commensurate with the needs of the organization.
  • Manage and own a consistent monthly close and reporting process.
  • Build finance team at Clever and ensure growth of existing team.
  • Manage company cash flow to ensure cash needs are met.
  • Optimize, understand and manage a multiple entity structure in Canada and the US.
  • Maintain operational internal controls, audit and tax support.
  • Multi‑department management reporting.
  • Multi‑currency accounting.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
What We Are Looking For
  • 10+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in small to midsized organizations.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
  • Understanding of corporate financial strategy.
  • Well‑versed in A/P, A/R best practices.
  • Understanding of multi‑currency payroll processing.
  • Superb MS Excel skills.
  • Expertise in system relationships and how to maximize information utilization.
  • Forecasting and budgeting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and USA tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Financial analysis skills are required to drive business decision making.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Greater Toronto preferred. While the role is remote, one day in the office (Wednesday) is preferred.
