Job summary

EllisDon currently seeks a VDC Coordinator to lead digital transformation within Virtual Design & Construction. You will empower VDC Coordinators to use cutting‑edge tools to optimize project management, acting as a bridge between technology and construction on major projects.

You will collaborate across teams, develop BIM execution plans, coordinate with designers and trades, and mentor others in new software and workflows. Join a culture that values innovation and inclusion.

Qualifications

• University degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, M&E or related field.
• 3–5+ years of professional experience with focus on on-site BIM management, modeling and technologies.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks and related BIM software.
• RPAS (Drone) operator certification or ability to achieve.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a project team working in a fast paced environment with project managers, superintendents, and engineers on-site.
• Collaborate with VDC Leadership to build a BIM Execution Plan and VDC implementation strategy.
• Understand EIR requirements and use software to prepare model-based deliverables.
• Develop project workflows utilizing BIM data for estimating, logistics, planning and scheduling.
• Perform model-based design reviews, clash detection and visualization.
• Manage and maintain BIM data from various sources throughout design and construction.
• Take ownership over coordination meetings with designers, trades, and suppliers.
• Work with field teams using intelligent models to track progress and project schedules.
• Model Architectural, Structural, MEP and construction logistics elements as needed for representation.
• Facilitate reality capture (LiDAR, drones, 360 photos) for model integration and QA/QC.

At EllisDon you will lead digital transformation under Virtual Design & Construction, the most integral part of our Digital Project Delivery strategy. We enable our VDC Coordinators to leverage the latest VDC technology tools in the market to optimize construction project management. Supported by our collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, we allow for our VDC Coordinators to innovate and lead their projects to success. Most importantly, we empower our Coordinators to be the bridge between technology and traditional construction, which is most needed for effective digital transformation and innovation. You As a VDC Coordinator Will

• Be a part of a project team working in a fast paced environment with project managers, superintendents, and engineers on‑site.
• Collaborate with VDC Leadership team to build a BIM Execution Plan and VDC implementation strategy
• Understand the owner BIM / Employers Information Requirements (EIR) and use a custom suite of software tools to prepare model‑based deliverables
• Have the freedom and creativity to develop project specific workflows that utilize BIM data for estimating, logistics, planning, scheduling (4D), coordination, field layout, and facilitates management.
• Develop solutions with the project stakeholders by performing model based design and constructability review, clash detection and visualization
• Manage and maintain BIM data generated from various sources throughout design and construction
• Take ownership over coordination meetings with designers, trades, and suppliers
• Work closely with the field team using the intelligent building models to track the progress on site and contribute on the overall project schedules and plans
• Use your 3D Modeling skills to model Architectural, Structural, MEP and Construction Logistic elements as needed for representation, visualization, and coordination.
• Facilitate reality capture, utilizing LiDAR, Drones and 360 Photography for model integration, QA/QC, analysis, and visualization.
• Help your project team navigate the expanding world of construction technology by teaching and mentoring them as they learn new software and workflows.
• Participate in software testing, R&D initiatives and continue personal and professional growth.
• Be a part of the VDC community to build on EllisDon’s rich history of innovation as leaders in the construction industry.

What You Will Bring To The Team

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Experience and interest in building structures and structural assemblies and construction will be considered and asset.
• University degree/ Technology Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, M&E or related field.
• 3-5+ years of professional experience with focus on on‑site BIM Management, Modeling, and technologies, preferably on site.
• Relevant experience in engineering and/or construction fields, including document production and M&E coordination works.
• An ability to demonstrate competence and relevant experience in Revit, AutoCAD / AutoCAD Civil 3D, Navisworks, Revizto, Autodesk BIM360, ACC, dRofus, Fuzor, cmBuilder, and TwinMotion.
• Experience with 3D Laser Scanning, Drone Photogrammetry, and 360 Photos with Automated Progress Tracking is considered an asset.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam.
• Appropriate level of knowledge interpreting design and construction drawings.
• Passionate about the construction industry and innovation.
• Excellent organization, time management skills and attention to detail.
• BIM‑related training or certifications considered an asset (Building Transformations, Building SMART)
• RPAS (Drone) Operator Certification (Or the ability to achieve).
• Self motivated, passionate, innovative, and creative.
