RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal Quebec the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

Dr. Ahun's research focuses on the mechanisms through which the parental mental health and parenting impact early child development. The incumbent will contribute to Dr. Ahun's research activities. They will also work on the BUNDLE study which aims to test whether early childhood development is improved by a bundled set of interventions that promote responsive stimulation and improved feeding integrated into existing infection prevention and treatment activities of the health system in Liberia. The incumbent will contribute to various research activities within the BUNDLE study including training data collectors, developing study protocols, preparing intervention materials, cleaning and analyzing data, and contributing to manuscript preparation. They will report to Dr. Marilyn N. Ahun.

General Duties
  • Finalizing qualitative interview guides
  • Transcribing audio recordings from qualitative interviews
  • Developing coding dictionary and coding transcripts
  • Analyzing and summarizing qualitative data
  • Contributing to adaptation of parenting manual based on qualitative data
  • Contributing to development of study protocols and data collection tools
  • Liaising with and facilitating communication between the research team at the University of South Carolina and Dr. Ahun
  • Completing other research-related tasks for Dr. Ahun's overall research program (e.g. data analysis, manuscript preparation, grant applications, etc.)
Education

Bachelors Degree

Field of Study: Public Health, Health Promotion, Global Health, Psychology or other related field.

Other education considered for this position: Masters degree.

Work Experience

1-2 years of previous research experience.

Employment Details

Status: Temporary full time (35-hour workweek)

Pay Scale: $41,550.60 - $62,353.20, commensurate with education and experience.

Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Work Site: 5252 Maisonneuve.
