Job summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a Cook IV in Surrey, BC to prepare salads, sandwiches and cold plates and assist cooks with measuring, mixing and blending ingredients. The role includes standard vegetable and fruit prep, delivering nourishments and maintaining clean, sanitary work areas.

You will set up meal trays, handle food portions per production sheets, and perform related duties in a hospital kitchen. A Grade 10 with 1 year of experience and a valid Food Safe I certificate are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current Food Safe I certificate.

The salary range for this position is CAD $25.82 - $25.82 / hour

Detailed Overview

Under the general supervision of the Cook IV, performs a variety of tasks including measuring, combining, grinding, blending and slicing food ingredients for food and beverage preparation and production. Provides general assistance in food production and distribution.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all salads, sandwiches, cold plates by procedures such as measuring, mixing and blending.
• Counts, weighs and/or measures ingredients as assigned.
• Assists Cooks by measuring, combining, grinding, blending and slicing food ingredients, as directed.
• Assists in vegetable and fruit preparation by washing, slicing, dicing and grating.
• Removes and delivers food items from storage areas to work areas.
• Packages, labels and transfers food items to freezer or refrigerator storage. Rotates food items in the freezers.
• Delivers nourishments and floor supplies to nourishment kitchens on nursing units.
• Cleans work areas including sinks, counter tops, machines, equipment, splash areas in accordance with established standards and procedures; sweeps and damp mops work area floor, as directed.
• As indicated by the menu cards, sets up meal trays with items such as juice, milk, dessert, condiments, dishware, cutlery, napkins and portions out food and beverages on meal trays following food handling standards.
• As indicated by the production sheet, loads pans of hot and cold food onto the food containers/carts, in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Grade 10 plus one (1) year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current Food Safe I certificate.
