Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Cook for our long-term care residence in Aurora to ensure meals are prepared and served on time in a sanitary, resident-focused environment.

Responsibilities include supervising Food Services Workers, checking diet orders, and addressing resident or family concerns in collaboration with the Food Services Manager/Supervisor. A Safe Food Handling Certificate and relevant cooking diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Cook, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Minimum public-school education; high school education preferred.
• Diploma/certificate or equivalent in quality food preparation and production.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals on time while maintaining sanitary work areas.
• Direct Food Services Workers and supervise the Food Services Department as required.
• Check special diet orders for new admissions to ensure accuracy.
• Respond to resident or family concerns within your decision-making authority and escalate as needed.

What Is In It For You:

• Checks special diet orders for new admissions to ensure they are correct (as required).
• Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Food Services Manager/Supervisor.
• Directs Food Services Workers in the performance of their duties and assumes responsibility for the operation of the Food Services Department (as required).

What You Will Need

• Prior experience as a Cook preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Current provincial Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• A minimum of public-school education is required. High school education is preferred.
• Must have a diploma/certificate or equivalent in quality food preparation and production.
