About the Role :

As a Cook you’ll play an important role in supporting the daily dining experience for our residents by preparing fresh high‑quality meals that reflect their tastes and cultural preferences. You’ll work closely with the kitchen team to plan and prepare menus, ensure food safety standards are met and contribute to a welcoming home‑like environment.

What you will be doing :
  • Prepare food items following established schedules, menus, recipes and quantity quotas; assembling ingredients and equipment required for cooking. Reporting and recording substitutions and production quantities.
  • Cook and season assigned food and various therapeutic diet items by methods/procedures such as frying, roasting, grilling, steaming, boiling and baking.
  • Test food items for palatability and temperature, adjusting accordingly. Recording all required documentation (temperature logs and meal time logs).
  • Maintain established food rotations in storage to minimize spoilage and waste; assign tasks to designated Food Service Workers as required.
  • Cleans equipment and work area using appropriate cleaning agents to ensure hospital and applicable sanitation standards are met.
  • Participate in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by understanding and following Health and Safety rules, regulations and practices such as fire disaster WHMIS SMART MOVES and Infection Control.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities to enrich and advance various processes through the effective use of available resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Graduation from a recognized 12‑month program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current Food Safe L certificate.
