Tired of working the line during endless stressful dinner rushes? Choices Market’s Production Kitchen and Bakery in Burnaby is a different experience entirely. We prepare the food available in the delis and bakeries at our stores and others. We are looking for people with relevant cooking experience, a passion for food, critical understanding of the importance of food safety, capable of working both independently and as a member of a team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparing and cooking soups, sauces and chili;
  • Preparing and cooking proteins, starches, and side dishes;
  • Preparing various salads, sandwiches and meals to go;
  • Packaging foods for dispatching to stores;
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen;
  • Organizing storage of food ingredients and disposables;
  • Ensuring safety protocols are taken and quality standards are met; and
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with cooking equipment and utensils;
  • Previous kitchen experience is a must; only candidates with relevant prior experience will be considered
  • Eager and willing to learn;
  • Passionate about food;
  • Understanding of sanitary practices and protocols;
  • Strong organizational skills around food storage, preparation and disposables;
  • FoodSafe certification; and
  • This role is primarily for afternoon shifts; however, some flexibility is required to accommodate occassional shift schedule change but not nights unless that appeals.
