Job Description

We are seeking a skilled cook to join our team at the Nunavut Arctic College in Iqaluit NU for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and a passion for creating delicious meals.

This opportunity is located in Iqaluit, Nunavut; candidates must be willing to relocate to Iqaluit NU.

Airfare between Ottawa and Iqaluit is provided for time off.

Accommodation in Iqaluit is provided free of charge.

Meals are provided onsite under a low‑cost meal plan deduction.

Position: 6 days per week, 10 hours per day, with one weekend day off. Overtime in Nunavut is paid for work over 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.

Enjoy 2 weeks off during Christmas break and 6 weeks off during summer break to return home, with flights provided.

Job Responsibilities
  • Follow cyclical menus and recipes
  • Prepare food for the dining facilities including soups, daily menus, entrees, vegetables, sauces, gravies, etc., and ensure primary preparation of entrée items is completed for the following day
  • Ensure that all food remains eye‑appealing and replenished throughout service
  • Tear down line after service, storing correctly or disposing of product
  • Clean line and grill area
  • Ensure correct storage conditions for products such as meats, produce, and dairy are maintained
  • Assist other cooks as required or perform extra duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Handle cash and credit/debit card transactions
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a food service environment or 1 year of related coursework
  • Current Safe Food Handlers Certificate
  • Criminal record check
  • Must be willing to relocate to Iqaluit
