Qualifications

  • Graduate from an Engineering Technology program specializing in robots and automation.
  • Manufacturing experience with technical knowledge in programming, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Overview

Scope of the Position

A Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration and maintenance of and improvement of automated industrial machinery. A Controls Technician keeps things running smoothly as they check on and maintain machinery. Successful Controls Technicians are able to respond quickly to any problems that might arise.

Responsibilities
  • Test, troubleshoot, and oversee implementation of new processes
  • Install retrofits to existing systems and troubleshoot hardware, software, and instrument problems
  • Supports start-up activities
  • Create and maintain automation processes
  • Over-see testing procedures, writing reports and making sure that the instruments you develop comply with quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Available for support calls 24 / 7
  • Install, diagnose and fix programmable logic controllers and other devices that operate automated equipment.
  • PLC, robot and HMI programming, implementation and troubleshooting
  • Preventative maintenance of production and support equipment
  • Repair of equipment
  • Assist in proper maintenance of all programming software, application files and programming hardware
  • Responsible to improve equipment reliability and uptime related to automation and controls
  • Implementation of Continuous Improvement Ideas related to automation and robotics as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
  • Physical ability to lift 60lbs
  • Manual dexterity
  • Overtime as required
  • Industrial workplace, where PPE is required.
  • Support 3 shift operation
Qualifications
  • Graduate of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology (Robot and Automation Program)
  • Manufacturing experience and a strong technical knowledge in the programming, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment
  • Knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens), Robotics (Nachi, ABB, Fanuc), HMI programming, Vision Systems (Cognex, Keyence, Omron)
  • Superior analytical capabilities
  • Problem-solving and decision-making
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
