Job summary

Johnson Controls in Winnipeg, Canada, is seeking a Field Project Manager for Building Solutions North America to lead onsite construction or retrofit projects with our customers. You will interact with client staff and management regularly, coordinating technical teams to deliver quality, safe, and on-time results.

You will apply your HVAC and BAS knowledge to manage subcontractors, ensure compliance with drawings and standards, and drive successful commissioning and handover.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of experience and knowledge in HVAC and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Experience managing medium to large projects and coordinating field activities.
• Strong commercial/contractual acumen and ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage onsite construction or retrofit projects for local customers.
• Coordinate activities with subcontractors, technicians, and site personnel.
• Ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance on site.
• Lead commissioning, validation, and handover activities with engineering teams.

What You Will Do

The Field Project Manager is part of our Building Solutions, North America business at Johnson Controls. This position will work onsite for local customers managing a construction or retrofit projects. Will interact with our customers staff and management on a regular basis.

How You Will Do It

• Program and assist with troubleshooting, as-builts, equipment and plant startups when necessary.
• Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed. This will include the set up and assisting the technical team on CWD.
• Communicate with project team regarding SI’s, RFI’s, and Material Submittals.
• Ensure that the subcontractor is fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
• Interface with site customer personnel to ensure conformance to Drawing/Hardware/Software/Graphics site standards.
• Coordinate commissioning and validation activities on-site with commissioning agents and site automation engineers.
• Schedule commissioning and validation activities with the Validation Engineering Team and System Technician Team.

Performs regular site visits with Field Technicians & System Designers to ensure Technical Processes are understood and being followed, provide assistance where required.

• Perform technical reviews of test documents, software, and graphics. Ensure high quality standards are being maintained at each level of the project.
• Identify subcontractor non‑compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
• Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
• Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team.
• Preside over weekly scheduling meetings designed to coordinate the work as well as Biweekly Engineering Review Meetings.
• Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
• Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.

What we look for

• University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of experience and knowledge in HVAC and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Responsible for a medium to large project, manages the contractual commitments of contractors including cost, quality, and schedule and coordinates their field activities.
• Focuses on developing long term relationships with customers in revamping, debottlenecking and expanding resource capacity.
• High level knowledge of commercial/contractual complexity, deal structure/financial acumen, disciplines of supply chain, communication skills, C-level relationships.
• Demonstrates the ability to persuade, negotiate, and influence others.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $34.80-$48.20 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
