Do you want your work to genuinely matter and contribute to helping people recover and rebuild during some of the most stressful moments of their lives?

If you're nodding “yes,” you might be the perfect fit for DKI, a national leader in property restoration where financial leadership helps power 24/7 response, innovative solutions, and real-world impact for communities across Canada.

Join a team recognized for leadership, innovation and diversity.

At DKI our purpose is to help people and communities recover from unexpected loss, restoring homes, businesses, and peace of mind when it matters most. As Canada’s leader in property restoration, we combine coast-to-coast scale with local expertise to deliver 24/7 emergency response and recovery services. We pride ourselves on innovative problem‑solving, environmentally responsible practices, and operational excellence. Every role at DKI plays a part in helping others move forward after disruption.

The Role

As Controller, you’ll own the full accounting and finance function and play a critical role in shaping how the business grows. You’ll lead the preparation of timely, accurate financial reporting for senior leadership while bringing insight and clarity to decision‑making across the organization. This is a hands‑on, big‑picture role, ideal for a finance leader who enjoys building strong teams, improving systems, and driving efficiency and profitability in a dynamic construction services environment. Most importantly, you’ll bring a growth mindset and a genuine desire to help build a mission‑driven organization that supports people and communities when they need it most.

Expected Outcomes
  • Act as a collaborative, trusted partner across the organization
  • Work closely with leaders across divisions to support alignment and informed decision‑making.
  • Communicate financial insights clearly to both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting that leadership can trust
  • Lead the month‑end close process and produce complete, accurate monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare clean, insightful financial reporting packages and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Ensure financial information is consistently accurate, reliable, and decision‑ready.
Build and lead a strong, accountable accounting team
  • Lead and develop a team of up to four accounting professionals.
  • Set clear expectations, provide coaching, and foster a culture of ownership and accountability.
  • Ensure the team operates efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
Strengthen financial systems and infrastructure to support growth
  • Develop, document, and implement accounting practices, procedures, and controls.
  • Lead the implementation and integration of ERP systems, including the transition from QuickBooks Cloud to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Improve processes to reduce manual work, increase visibility, and support scalability.
Provide forward‑looking financial insight through budgeting, forecasting, and analysis
  • Maintain budgets and forecasts through financial modelling and ongoing analysis.
  • Prepare project‑level financial summaries and forecasts to support operational planning.
  • Partner with divisional leaders to monitor performance against budget and identify risks and opportunities.
Ensure strong financial stewardship, compliance, and cash management
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow and cash balance statements to support liquidity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, tax requirements, and company policies.
  • Prepare audit schedules and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Skills / Experience Required
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting and financial management
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation or pursuing CPA is desired.
