The Opportunity

Our client is one of Canada’s leading automotive groups with operations across Western Canada and the U.S. They offer a full range of new and pre-owned vehicles, as well as financing, leasing, and service solutions.

They are currently seeking a strong Controller and business leader to oversee dealership accounting operations in Richmond, BC, while supporting the organization’s financial integrity, compliance, and overall performance.

What You’ll Do

As the Controller, you will play a key leadership role in dealership accounting and financial operations, including:

  • Lead and align the accounting team to support organizational direction and initiatives
  • Protect the legal and financial welfare of the dealership
  • Maintain responsibility for dealership assets in conjunction with the General Manager
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and staff performance
  • Support daily dealership accounting functions, including posting deals and scheduling cleans (depending on store size)
  • Finalize financial statements and ensure timely submission to banks and manufacturers
  • Ensure compliance with dealership agreements, financial institutions, and provincial governing bodies
  • Oversee inventory financing and ensure payout processes follow lender rules
  • Coordinate and supervise inventory counts and reconciliations (vehicles and parts)
  • Prepare year-end working papers and support year-end processes
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and quality of financial reporting produced by the accounting team
  • Provide meaningful financial insights to support stronger business decisions
  • Identify opportunities for profitability improvement through analysis, cost control, and process improvements
  • Support training and development of staff, including participation in internal learning programs and manufacturer training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
What You Bring
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce
  • CPA designation is an asset (not required)
  • 2–3 years of automotive dealership accounting experience required
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and dealership accounting processes
  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing a team
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
