Purpose of the job
- Inspection of purchased parts / products
- Reporting of defects & ensure product compliance (check after rework)
Main responsibilities
The Incoming inspector ensures the compliance of purchased products and parts delivered to the ALSTOM facilities. He / She performs inspections, checks, and follows sampling procedures according to the applicable instructions on products having been delivered by suppliers before their use in production.
Accountabilities & Authorities
- Perform inspections according to Incoming Control Plan
- Accept or Reject products as defined in the inspection instruction/ checklist
- Records inspection results in the digital tools as required
- Accurately document Non-conformity when applicable with clear characterization
- Complete all associated Non-conformity activities such as completing the QM order, blocking stock and tasking appropriate parties in the ERP system (ex GSI) to initiate the NCR resolution process
- Ensure the use of calibrated equipment and instrumentations used in the inspections.
- Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, control plan and checklists.
- Inspect and sort material from inventory purges as directed by SQ Serial or Supply chain
- Inform supply chain and supplier quality on NCRs and impact of defects on part availability
- Coordinate outside special process inspection or outside lab testing if required, with incoming inspection leader
- Supports the SQ Serial and Incoming Inspection leader by providing inspection-related data for KPIs
- Participates in daily meetings and fulfills daily priorities as set by the Incoming Inspection leader
Performance measurements
- Complete inspections within allocated target lead time and ensure priority inspections are completed ontime
- Accuracy and correct defect characterization in NCRs and related ERP tasks (blocking stock, tasking, etc)
- Ensure continuous improvement with a downward trend in quantity of NCRs detected after incoming inspection during the production cycle (non-functional issues only)
Educational Requirements
Mandatory:
- Must be able to read drawings (2D and 3D) / specifications and be able to understand 3D geometry
- Familiar with a variety of measurement equipment.
- Competency to use computer applications
- Qualified on special process of his/her scope of work.
- Railway experience a "plus" specially on welded product.
Experience
Mandatory:
- Experience within manufacturing industry
- Experience using SAP or similar computer applications
- Quality inspection experience within manufacturing industry.
- Experience with typical products used and their defect modes
- Experience in Quality / audit are valued
- Analytical and detail-oriented

- Ease to communicate with business partners
- Mechanically or electrically inclined, comfortable using measurement tools
- Experience in operational activities, in documentation management & collaboration and team working.
