A leading construction firm in Montreal is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to oversee contract management and risk assessment on projects. Responsibilities
- Reviews and interpretation of contract / subcontract documents.
- Reviews contract documents to ensure proper execution, working with relevant stakeholders.
- Identifies, communicate, and manage contract risks and opportunities.
- Prepares and issues any required client and trade partners’ correspondence / reports / formal notices.
- Responsible for subcontract management. Identifies any potential / real claims for project and notifies manager, Finance, and Commercial Risk.
- Coordinates claims management to mitigate losses to PCL.
- Coordinates resolution of disputes and provides assistance when resolving contract disputes, as required.
- Assists with the interpretation, negotiation, and approval of deviations from an existing P.O., consultant, and subcontract form, including special clauses, and ensures risks are mitigated.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Develops strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect with owner, and project and design team. Advises management on strategic pursuit initiatives and opportunities.
- Participates in project change management process. Leads or supports negotiations with owners or contractors.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in engineering or a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
- 14 years of progressive experience in contract management with exposure to risk management and legal issues preferred. On projects experience an asset.
- Understands and complies with all labor agreements, government legislation, and PCL policies and procedures, and can influence district strategy and translate it into objectives.
- Advanced risk interpretation, negotiation skills, and strategic thinking to ensure PCL interests are protected in all contractual and subcontract agreements.
- Advanced knowledge of contract / construction law in relation to tender documents, project contracts, and claims management.
- Understanding of the commercial terms of the contract and the district / corporate management reports.
- Understanding of subcontract terms, including insurance, subcontractor default insurance (SDI) and bonding requirements.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience working with highly complex pursuits and projects.
- Strong understanding of contract terms for various delivery models and identifies contract risks and opportunity.
