Job summary

A mid-sized construction solutions provider in Manitoba is looking for a Contract Sales Consultant who will oversee projects, negotiate contracts, and maintain client relationships. The successful candidate must have extensive product knowledge, strong sales acumen, and a solid understanding of project management principles. A degree in a related field is preferred, along with experience in construction or architecture. This role involves travel and working directly on construction sites.

Job description
JOB SUMMARY

Contract Sales Consultants maintain a credit-worthy customer base with a sales volume target as directed by the Branch Manager. They achieve the best margins possible and not less than company policy or as authorized by the Branch Manager. Ensure all contracts match in scope to what was bid and have acceptable terms and conditions. Contract Sales Consultants are responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. The Contract sales Consultants plan and designate resources, compare estimated budget to ongoing budget, monitor progress, and keep team members and customers informed throughout the project life cycle. This is all done within the confines of the company's Mission, Vision and Values.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess client’s needs and recommend the appropriate products and services
  • Negotiate contract price and land project, review contracts for accuracy
  • Complete or coordinate estimating for the project; request vendor quotes and accurately price all sections of a project
  • Complete or coordinate detailing of materials for project; ensure accurate submittal package and production worksheets are produced
  • Suggest alternate products for projects based on your extensive knowledge of products
  • Complete or coordinate accurate ordering / sourcing / itemizing of materials for project in a timely manner; be aware of general contractor’s schedule and achieve lowest cost freight
  • Direct and Manage on-time scheduling / shipping / install of materials for project; outsource outbound freight and install as required
  • Coordinate with accounting to ensure prompt billings and ensure accuracy with contract and change orders issued; assist in collections by communicating with general contractors and resolving issues
  • Conduct project postmortems and identify successful and unsuccessful processes within the project.
  • Manage the sales contract for maximum profit by value-add selling of product alternates, processing change orders, rectifying deficiencies promptly, etc.
  • Provide exceptional customer service; build relationships with industry members
  • Communicate with general contractor and respond to changes on the project in a timely manner by issuing change orders promptly; regular site visits to active construction sites
  • Ensure that disputes with contractors are resolved promptly through inspection, discussion, and decision making
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Extensive related product knowledge and experience required

  • Knowledge of building code requirements pertaining to life safety, security, electronics, and fire codes
  • Ability to interpret and understand architectural drawings

  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • DHI courses, designation is an asset
  • University degree or college diploma in related field or equivalent work-related experience
  • Project Management or Architectural Engineering certificate or 3-5 years’ related experience
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Sales training is an asset
