A utility organization in Ontario is seeking a Regulatory Legal Advisor to conduct legal research, develop regulatory strategies, and provide legal advice to senior leaders. The role requires a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and a member of the Law Society of Ontario, with at least one year of legal experience. Ideal candidates will have strong advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills, working in a hybrid environment with onsite presence required from Tuesday to Thursday.
Responsible for performing detailed regulatory legal research, analysis, and evidence development activities; engaging and collaborating with internal stakeholders on complex regulatory matters; providing regulatory legal advice to senior leaders; and advocating for the organization’s interests through regulatory proceedings. The incumbent will also consult with business unit stakeholders to educate the organization on the impact of regulatory laws, policies, processes and decisions, contribute regulatory expertise to the development and implementation of business processes and key documentation, and execute departmental activities to implement the regulatory strategy, promote regulatory acumen in the organization, and advance rate application objectives.
The incumbent will work as part of a multi-functional department specializing in regulatory affairs and government relations and interact on a daily basis with a diverse group of leaders and coworkers from various technical backgrounds (such as other lawyers, accountants, public policy specialists, engineers, customer relations representatives, etc.). The incumbent is expected to handle matters with flexibility and creativity, bringing business acumen and a strategic mindset on top of core legal skills.
The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.
This position is based in a hybrid environment allowing for remote work two days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite Tuesday to Thursday. You are expected to live in Ontario and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.
