Job Title: Contract Line Scheduler

Department: Manufacturing & Distribution

Terms of employment: Full-Time Salary Contract

Reports to: Room Management Team

Rate: $56,784 / annum CAD

Location: Etobicoke ON

Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, holidays and occasional overtime and weekends.

The Line Scheduler reports to the Room Management Team (RMT). The role uses production planning best practices to support Manufacturing in achieving optimized production schedules. The Line Scheduler generates daily and weekly production plans and firm production schedules to optimize people, equipment and processes. Strong computer skills, knowledge of scheduling, and excellent communication skills are required. Responsibilities
  • Engage with multiple production rooms and Room Management Teams (RMT) to develop the optimal sequence of products, minimize changeover times and determine appropriate batch sizes to maximize efficiencies.
  • Proactively communicate with the RMT regarding room capacity changes, preventative maintenance windows, and labour/material constraints.
  • Participate in overall business updates related to the S&OP Process as required.
  • Actively participate as part of the Business Process Team in Continuous Improvement on Production Planning Best Practices.
  • Analyze room performance to attainment and fulfillment; contribute to process improvements.
  • Establish a weekly meeting with Room Managers, Inventory Controllers, and Floor Supervisors to ensure schedules are accepted and resources are in place.
  • Ensure Room Management teams are proactively engaged in processes when fulfillment or launches may be at risk.
  • Generate daily production schedules and distribute to RMT, Floor Supervisors, Compounding, and Distro / Goods-In teams.
  • Revise daily production plans as needed based on material availability or demand, coordinating with Inventory Controllers to meet production goals.
  • Ensure production plans support optimized customer fulfillment and freshness while maintaining safety stock levels.
  • Collaborate with Inventory Controllers, Buying, and Freight teams to ensure raw materials and components are available on time.
  • Communicate with rooms to ensure understanding of the schedule and priorities, enabling proper prioritization during disruptions or extended shifts.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement by refining planning processes in collaboration with room capacity and routes.
  • Train back-up planners to ensure adequate coverage.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX, RF Smart handheld scanners).
  • General understanding of production line processes, routings, and product compounding.
  • Strong math skills and ability to count accurately.
  • Comfortable navigating email, MS Office, and Google apps (Sheets, Chat, Meet).
  • Positive attitude, team player, and engaged work ethic.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities with a strong sense of urgency while remaining calm under pressure.
  • Strategic and patient when handling last-minute requests from managers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks; strong analytical attention to detail.
  • Familiar with labour requirements (time, staff, equipment, materials, etc.).
  • Reliable, consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a Line Scheduling, Production Planning, and/or Inventory Controlling role.
  • Experience with inventory control/management.
  • Experience overseeing scheduling in manufacturing or distribution.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Experience in an AX function support role.
  • Ability to work in a highly seasonal, high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility to work shift work and occasional overtime.
