Overview

Contract Position: Instructor, University Studies (Sociology)

Keyano College’s University Studies department is currently seeking a Contract Instructor to teach the following course for the Winter 2026 semester (January 8 – April 28, 2026): SOCY 100 – Introductory Sociology. Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity; you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Primarily teach their specific courses across the curriculum
• Maintaining office hours and student mentorship/engagement
• Maintaining professional competence and knowledge of subject matter

Qualifications

• Minimum Master’s of Arts & Humanities or a related field. A degree in Sociology will be considered an asset.
• Minimum of 2 years cumulative post-secondary teaching experience
• Proficient with the use of learning technologies
• Excellent classroom management and instructional skills
• Demonstrated excellent communication, planning, time management, and organizational skills
• Dependable and resourceful team member with a proven track record of managing multiple competing priorities with a calm professional approach
