Summary

The Contract Monitor is responsible for accompanying suppliers into Hydro One secure locations as well as scheduling vendor visits and completing vendor job plans ensuring all health and safety requirements are followed while on site. Contract Monitors are also responsible for performing work in accordance with established processes and practices and for complying with internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Client Support
  • Provides escort services within the secured areas of the operation as required.
  • Ensures all visiting personnel "Sign In/Sign Out" in accordance with approved processes & procedures.
  • Ensures proper health and safety practices are strictly observed.
  • Responsible for scheduling supplier visits.
  • Responsible for completing vendor job plans.
  • Interacts professionally and maintains working relationships with vendors and the client while representing the BGIS brand.
  • Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.
Site Inspection and Facility Maintenance
  • Responsibility for site inspection including MOE testing, FLS inspections/repairs, site/security repairs and notifications.
  • May have responsibility for work protections in high voltage environments.
  • Performspreventativeandcorrectivemaintenanceactivities on facility infrastructure (both on demand and scheduled).
  • Complieswithallinternalandexternalrequirementsincludingbutnotlimitedtoenvironmental,healthandsafety,fireprotection.
  • Performs regular facility, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime objectives are met, uninterrupted client operation and asset integrity of assigned facilities are maintained.
  • Provides observations about facility, conditions and deficiencies and provides recommendations for enhancement andrepair.
  • Records resolution data within service maintenance management database. Ensures work completed meets quality and contract responserequirements.
  • Receives, tracks, monitors and reports status of maintenance and repair work within service maintenance management database. Initiatesdocumentstoauthorizeorobtainformalapprovalofworkrequired.
  • Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) program. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documentations aremaintained.
  • Participates in and assists with facility-relatedprojects.
  • Maintainsallassignedtoolsandarrangesforrepairandreplacementwhererequired.
Other
  • Mustbeableandwillingtoworkshifts,beavailableforon-call/standbyandemergencycalloutsastheyarise.
  • Must be willing to wear personal protectiveequipment.
  • Must be able to able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able and willing to drive to and perform work at multiplesites.
  • Reading of building blueprints and electrical drawings to validate updates.
Knowledge & Skills
  • 1-3yearsoffacilityoperationsandmaintenanceworkexperience
  • Knowledge of the Hydro One’s work environment is essential
  • Experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of Hydro One electrical equipment and associated control systems would be considered an asset
  • Strongabilitytoadhereandtoproperlyexecuteprocessesandpracticesrelatingtofacilityoperationsandmaintenance
  • Strongbuildingtroubleshootingandresolutionskills.
  • Currentknowledgeoffire,life,safetyandbuildingcodesandstandardsandabilitytoresearchandapplyrelatedcodesandstandards would be an asset.
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safemanner. Able to identify potential hazards and assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Effectivecommunicationskillsforthepurposeofdatarelay,exchange,feedback,andclarification.
  • Knowledge of safety and security standards.
  • Ability to act quickly and calmly during an emergency.
  • Ability to perform job duties timely, accurately and safely in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ability to adhere to Hydro One requirements and policies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with others including, but not limited to, fellow co-workers, vendors, corporate staff, and other regulatory personnel.
  • Knowledge/training of both mechanical and electrical trades required.
  • Must satisfy enhanced security clearance requirements.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Professional Accreditation
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Considered an asset:
    • OSHA – Competent Person certification
    • Lock out/ Tag out procedures
    • Trades training (mechanical / electrical)
    • Building operator certification
