Job description

Horizon RecruitmentInc.is recruiting for aContract Managerto support a major capital construction project. This role will lead the management of construction and engineering contracts, ensuring the owner's interests are upheld throughout the planning and construction phases. The successful candidate will play a central role in vendor oversight, risk mitigation, and delivering commercial value to the project.

Initially structured as a 12-month contract, the role is expected to extend as additional phases are approved.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement contract strategies that minimize risk and align with project objectives
  • Lead sourcing and procurement activities, including RFx processes and scope development
  • Manage post-award relationships with engineering and construction service providers to ensure accountability and performance
  • Act as the owner’s representative in all contractual interactions, including negotiations and issue resolution
  • Negotiate change orders, address claims, and clarify scope as needed
  • Monitor and report on budgets, schedules, and contract compliance
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site leaders to ensure timely and quality execution
  • Support construction tender processes and vendor selection

Requirements:

  • University degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in project environments, ideally with exposure to EPCM contract management
  • 5+ years of experience in industries such as mining, construction, or oil and gas
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract administration and vendor management
  • Strong background in pre-award sourcing and procurement
  • Skilled in risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Customer-focused and collaborative approach to contract management

Remuneration:

  • $70-$80+/hr. Remote work available within Western Canada
