Location: New Westminster Campus

Salary: Hourly: $52.41-$114.65/hour; Per Three Credit Course: $7,947; Actual salary or hourly rate will be based on the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement.

What It Takes

As a sight singing and aural skills instructor in the Music Department, you will instruct students in the Basic Musicianship Certificate, Music Diploma, and Foundation for Music Therapy Studies programs.

The successful candidate will instruct students, facilitate learning, evaluate student progress in cohort programs and model musical excellence. As part of an integrated instructional team, the successful candidate will plan, organize, and manage learning activities and maintain quality learner-centred instruction.

  • a minimum of a Master\'s Degree in Music (Doctoral preferred);
  • excellent musicianship;
  • a demonstrated ability to teach across a variety of musical styles;
  • extensive knowledge of aural skills, sight singing, and musicianship pedagogies, including instruction in moveable "do" systems and Curwen hand signs;
  • a record of successful teaching at the post-secondary level;
  • a demonstrated ability to work with a population of diverse adult learners;
  • excellent communication skills, demonstrated initiative and creativity, effective interpersonal skills, self-directedness, and evidence of ongoing professional development.
Additional Information

The Music Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to expand its list of instructors qualified to teach (QTT) Aural Skills in the Music Diploma program.

Work may be available beginning in the Winter 2026 semester. Workload is assigned each semester based on enrolment.
