Job summary

Kiknu, Nova Scotia’s first long term care home on a First Nation community, seeks a Continuing Care Assistant to join the Eskasoni team in Eskasoni, NS. You will support residents with daily living activities, hygiene and mobility, and contribute to individualized care planning with the care team.

Qualifications include valid Continuing Care Certification or Provincial Personal Care Worker course, NS CCA registry, CPR & First Aid, and clear criminal history checks. Flexible shifts available.

Qualifications

• Valid Continuing Care Certification or Provincial Personal Care Worker course.
• Registered in Nova Scotia’s CCA registry.
• CPR & First Aid certification required.
• Criminal Record Check (and Vulnerable Sector Check if applicable) prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with hygiene and daily living activities (bathing, dressing, oral care, meals, mobility).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team on individualized Resident Care Plan.
• Assist in planning and implementing resident leisure activities daily.
• Assist with light housekeeping duties.
• Perform delegated nursing acts per policy and scope of practice.
• Report relevant resident care or safety information to Supervisor.

We are searching for a Continuing Care Assistant to join our Kiknu team based in Eskasoni, Nova Scotia.

About The Opportunity

• Assists residents with hygiene and daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, meals, and mobilizing according to the work assignment.
• Collaborates with the resident and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the development of individualized Resident Care Plan.
• Assists in the planning and implementation of resident leisure activities daily.
• Assists with light housekeeping duties.
• Performs delegated nursing acts according to company policy and scope of practice
• Communicates and reports relevant information regarding resident care or safety to Supervisor.
• Additional related duties as assigned

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:

• You have a valid Continuing Care Certification or Provincial Personal Care Worker course or equivalent.
• You are registered in Nova Scotia’s CCA registry as per the Continuing Care Assistants Registry Act

• You can work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays,
• Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care course considered an asset.
• Previous working experience with elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment an asset
• Valid CPR & First Aid Certification
• Successful candidates will be required to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check, and where applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to appointment.
• A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care
