Job description

The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) represents more than 1,700 companies in the U.S. and around the globe who play a critical part in providing recycled materials to America’s manufacturing industries. Based in Washington, D.C., we promote safe, economically sustainable, and environmentally responsible recycling through education, networking, and advocacy.

This role develops compelling, brand-aligned content that advance ReMA’s mission and strengthens engagement across member and stakeholder audiences. This role leads the execution of integrated communications strategies that inform, inspire, and influence – leveraging narrative, design, and multi-channel distribution to elevate ReMA’s voice and impact.

With a hands-on approach and a creative mindset, the Content Manager brings ideas to life through engaging visuals, clear messaging, and thoughtful execution. This role thrives on producing content that connects with diverse audiences – members, prospective members, industry partners, policy makers, and media – while staying true to ReMA’s brand and mission. Whether drafting copy, designing graphics, or coordinating digital assets, the Content Manager is a skilled communicator who understands how to make content “work hard” across channels and formats.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Executes ReMA’s content strategy by managing day-to-day social media activity, ensuring timely, relevant, and brand-aligned engagement across platforms.
  • Drafts messaging and develop member toolkits that support outreach campaigns and equip stakeholders with clear, actionable communications.
  • Produces compelling video content for use on ReMA’s website, social media channels, and at industry events—handling everything from concept to final edit.
  • Develops and maintain the editorial calendar for ReMA’s podcast series; coordinate interviews, manage production logistics, and edit episodes as needed.
  • Writes and edits content that aligns with ReMA’s editorial calendar, including blog posts, newsletters, web copy, and other digital assets.
  • Maintains ReMA’s media resource library, organizing photos, videos, and collateral for easy access and reuse by staff and members.
  • Compiles and analyze engagement metrics across digital channels; prepare reports and offer insights to improve content performance and audience reach.
  • Monitors news and social media for developments relevant to ReMA’s priorities; share timely updates with internal teams to inform strategy and response.
  • Supports communications for ReMA chapters, ensuring consistency and alignment with national messaging.
  • Assists with assembling and distributing daily media clips to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the communications department.
  • Represents ReMA at industry events as needed, capturing content and supporting on-site communications.

The statements above are intended to describe the general scope and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. They do not represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required. ReMA reserves the right to modify, add, or remove duties as necessary to meet organizational needs.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field; 3–5 years of professional experience in content creation, communications, social media, or a similar role.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication abilities, with a strong sense of audience and tone. Comfortable articulating ReMA’s messages clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines consistently, and collaborate effectively across departments to support team goals.
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms, membership databases, graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or Canva), and video/audio production software. Experience using analytics to assess engagement and inform content decisions.
Working Conditions
  • Salary range for this position is between $75,000 - $90,000.
  • This position operates in a professional office setting designed to support productivity, collaboration, and employee well-being. The work environment is structured to meet modern workplace standards for safety, accessibility, and comfort, with reasonable accommodation available as needed.
  • ReMA offers an exceptional benefits package including employer subsidized insurance, generous 401k contribution and professional development assistance.
